We’re pleased to announce a brand new widget type that’s got us pretty excited here at Stackla – we call it “GoConnect”.

What does it do?

GoConnect allows you to go beyond the social networks to accept direct contributions from your website visitors.

Embedding a GoConnect on a page produces a form where visitors can:

  • Upload images
  • Accept terms and conditions

and provide the following information:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Email
  • Comment

You have control over which fields are shown and the look and feel of the widget via our templating and custom CSS / JS options.

The data captured is aggregated like any other tile and can be tagged and moderated for display via the Manage Content screen.

The data can be exported to a CSV by stack admins.

What are the benefits?

Democratise Engagement
GoConnect allows you to be social beyond the networks. Contributions can be submitted by people who don’t have social accounts or don’t want to use them to contribute to your campaigns.

Capture User Data
While social networks are a great source of content, they don’t pass along much in the way of identity information.

GoConnect allows you to capture name and email address for import into your other marketing tools (just make sure you have appropriate terms and conditions).

Compliance
Where legal compliance is a concern, GoConnect provides the ability to require users to accept terms and conditions (these can be any you choose to link to) as a part of the submission process.

This is really important for competitions and also if you have the intention of monetising user content (using it in social ads).

Use Cases

We decided to make GoConnect an “out-of-the-box” feature after deploying similar functionality as a custom job for a number of clients.

Kathmandu #GearOnTour Competition
Kathmandu asked customers to submit adventure photos from their travels around the world. They wanted the ability to accept entries from users without social accounts.

New South Wales Government – #LivingBetter Project
The Living Well NSW Project encourages the public to share their experiences of mental illness.

Due to the sensitive nature of the subject matter, NSW Government wanted to provide a contribution option that didn’t require social posts, which contributors may not have felt comfortable having their network seeing.
